Seaport by the British colonial era and became a capital of Myanmar at that time. Yangon was also known as Rangoon once and former capital and is still the capital of Yangon region. The military government has relocated the capital to Naypyidaw since 2006. Because of 5 million population in Yangon, it is the largest city in Myanmar and the most important commercial center. It has the largest number of colonial buildings such as the City Hall, the Secretariat, High Court, Port Commissioner, the General Post Office, Yangon General Hospital and so on. Thus it remains the reason of attraction of tourists. Another reason is World famous Shwedagon Pagoda, ancient Myanmars' outstanding architecture, is in this city.
